Kevin Love talks about a possible return of LeBron James to the Cavs

NBA – The former lieutenant of the “King” during the 2016 title imagines what could be the end of LeBron James’ career. Why not alongside his son Bronny Jr, and why not at the Cavs?

After a small crossing of the desert, Kevin Love has found his senses and plays a key role in the Cavs this season. The Ohio franchise also went through a complicated period following the departure of LeBron James, but has since made up for it by building a competitive roster around Darius Garland.

Even six years later, Kevin Love, LeBron James and a part of the 2016 NBA champion team have maintained a strong bond of friendship, which is fed today through a visibly animated “group chat”, where all blows are allowed. Even LeBron James takes it for his own!

“There are six of us in this group chat, especially the veterans who surrounded this team. We like to talk a lot. Not just about the dunk he slammed on my head, but when he was named worst actor at the Razzie Awards for example, we sent him. We thought it was kind of fun to point it out,” he said. “We don’t go overboard, we know it’s just love. And we have that bond, which we talk about sometimes, that we can tell each other anything, whether it’s good news or bad news, we can share it on there. That bond can never be broken, not just because of the way we won those Finals, but because of everything we accomplished that season, having so much fun. It’s a very strong bond, and I’m going to see these guys again in June for my wedding.

Favourable conditions for a return?

While his former teammate is experiencing a particularly complicated season with the Lakers, Kevin Love projected what could be the best end of his career for LeBron James. Inevitably, the prospect of another return to Cleveland to play one last season with his son Bronny Jr, and on a team where he wouldn’t have to be the hero every night, is considered.

“I mean, it would be like finishing a great storybook for him. I don’t want to project on what he may or may not want to do. But you see the direction our team is going, which is built to win in the years to come. And when you see how much Cleveland, Akron and all of Ohio love him, it sure would be great. We’re bringing Bronny here too and we can say we’ve come full circle,” he added.

Before reuniting with LeBron James (for his wedding first), Kevin Love also talked about the “play-in,” a format in which his Cavs could find themselves, and that he has learned to appreciate, especially through the duel between the Lakers of LeBron James and the Warriors of Stephen Curry last season.

“I had my views on it when it was set up with the belief that the top eight teams should make the playoffs. But I think in terms of interaction for the fans and despite the fact that teams fight so much throughout the year, involving the ninth and 10th is not the end of the world. We’ve seen how great these games can be, I’m thinking of the ultimate match-up between Golden State and the Lakers last year, with Stephen Curry and LeBron James. It was pretty incredible (…). It has a similar feeling to March Madness, it’s win or bust.
