Ben Simmons: “This is unacceptable from us!”

While we praised the defense of the Nets since Jacque Vaughn took over, the Nets have exploded tonight in Sacramento: 153 points conceded for a loss of 32 points!!! Certainly, Kyrie Irving was still missing but it is not him who would have limited the damage as the collective has liquefied.

“Put…, we got slapped in the face!” said Ben Simmons, who exceeded the 10-point mark. “They were better on defense and offense. They played as a team. For four quarters. They just played better than us. They wanted more. So, we didn’t want it… It’s unacceptable on our part. For the players and the coaches, it’s unacceptable.”

What hurts the Nets is that the game was broadcast on the national network, and once again, the franchise doesn’t come out on top.

“We had great intentions,” said Kevin Durant. “They put up shots, and it’s demoralizing when you see a team put up shots. It’s not like we didn’t try. They were better than us.”

For Jacque Vaughn, whose defensive paw was praised, his players had their minds elsewhere. Perhaps in Los Angeles after their games against the Clippers and Lakers.

“I don’t know if our heads, bodies and souls are still in Los Angeles. It does that to you sometimes with LA. We clearly gave our best effort against the Clippers (Saturday) and since then we’ve been falling apart,” lamented Jacque Vaughn. “You have to give them credit. They kicked our asses. We’re all concerned. I’m concerned. We have one more game to play on this road trip. How are we going to respond?”
