On May 3, 2011, Derrick Rose becomes the youngest MVP in history

NBA – On May 3, 2011, Derrick Rose received the regular season MVP award from David Stern. At 22 years old, the Bulls’ point guard was the youngest recipient in history.

He embodied hope and renewal after ten years of wandering in Chicago. At the end of a bluffing season completed with 25 points, 7.7 assists per game and a first place in the Eastern Conference for the Bulls (62-20), Derrick Rose had concretized his most promising year 2010/11 by a title of MVP of the regular season.

No one had ever won this trophy, the ultimate symbol of consistency, so young (22 years, 6 months and 30 days). The future looked bright, but fate and repeated injuries decided otherwise.

The outcome could have been tragic, like the careers of Penny Hardaway or Grant Hill, whose talent was rotten by physical problems. But Derrick Rose hung in there and finally managed to get back on track, like his 50 points against the Jazz, establishing himself as an excellent 6th man in recent seasons.

For fun, here are 14 minutes of his best actions compiled during his MVP season. With a lot of “circus shots”, two-handed “signature dunks” that the circles still remember and many other brilliant moves.
