LeBron James to fund construction of medical center in Akron

After a school and soon housing, the LeBron James Foundation will create a new health center, the I Promise HealthQuarters, for an estimated cost of three million dollars. It will be located right across the street from House Three Thirty, the shopping center where the LeBron James Museum will be located, which will open in 2023.

When completed, the medical center will offer comprehensive medical, dental, ophthalmology, mental health and counseling services not only to I Promise students, but also to their families. There will also be a radiology department and a pharmacy.

The center will complement I Promise housing, also being built nearby, which will allow the most disadvantaged families to live closer to the school.

” This is about removing barriers and obstacles to success for the 1,600 students and families they serve,” said Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation. ” Improving access to health care is a key component.”
