DeMar DeRozan thanks LeBron James for coming to Drew League

NBA – The Bulls player appreciated the initiative of LeBron to accompany him, the time of a game became memorable.

A four-time NBA champion and four-time Finals MVP has nothing left to prove. Even if he ruled the NBA for the past 15 years, LeBron James will have detractors until the end of his career.

However, the King showed once again his love for the game by playing a simple game of Drew League, a summer league where we met in the past Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Chris Paul, Paul George, Paul Pierce, Trae Young, John Wall, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. While he had not played since April 1, LeBron James chose this small gym to stretch his legs.

The game before the “I

Now 37 years old, LeBron James could have been injured, not be in the game or even worse, be ridiculed on an action that would not fail to make the tour of networks. But none of that happened. Better, the King regaled with 42 points and 16 rebounds for a 104-102 victory.

At his side, DeMar DeRozan, a regular of the Drew League, and even regional of the stage since he is a native of Compton. The Bulls player returned on this event that will have marked the 2022 edition.

“The weekend before, Bron contacted me after I played there and he said, ‘Yo, I’m going to try to come over there and play with you.’ At the time, I thought that would be great, not just for me, but for the community. I told him, ‘Let’s go. He got back to me the day before, I sent out a little tweet, and I woke up the next day, and it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that you can’t replicate,” he explained.

An unforgettable moment for the kids

DeMar DeRozan then understood the significance of LeBron James coming to such a meeting when he saw the excitement around the room and in the stands.

“I remember when Kobe came to play, it was one of the most epic moments. But it wasn’t even supposed to be a game that day. This time, with LeBron coming in, it was a game. I played in it, and when I woke up and saw that line around the Drew League, stretching to the corner, it took me back to the early 2000s, like we were in a high school gym,” he added. “Seeing the kids that were there and getting to see LeBron James come play in Compton, that’s something that can’t be beat. The atmosphere was one of a kind, it was special. At times I looked around and saw kids, just the smile and excitement on their faces. It’s something they’ll remember forever and that’s the most important thing behind it.”
