Victor Wembanyama reached multiple milestones

Draft 2023 – Victor Wembanyama continues to write his name in the record books of French basketball.

The Metropolitans 92 consolidated their second place in the Betclic Elite ranking Friday night by beating Limoges CSP (78-69). A victory that the Francilians owe in large part to the best game in career of Victor Wembanyama: 33 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 41 rating.

The future number 1 of the NBA Draft flew over the game, and we take advantage of the international break of 15 days to review his great start of the season.

His 33 points put him in second place in the ranking of the best performances of players under 19 years old. Just behind Sekou Doumbouya who scored 34 points with Limoges in 2019. At 18 years old, in 2001, Tony Parker had scored 32 points against Antibes.

With 41 of evaluation, he is also second in terms of “precocity”. Only Antoine Rigaudeau did better, in 1990, when he had cumulated 25 points and 15 assists with Cholet against Dijon for 43 rating.

Number 1 in evaluation

It is with his 12 rebounds that “Wemby” enters the history books: no player under 19 years old had done better until now. The previous record (11) belonged to two former French NBA players: Ian Mahinmi (2 times) and Damien Inglis. Note that Victor Wembanyama is already the author of 7 of the 10 best performances of all time in the NBL for a player under 19 years old in rebounds!

This season, after seven games, he is the number 1 of the Betclic Elite in rebounds and rating, 2nd in rebounds and 3rd in points with 21.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.9 rebounds for 24.9 rating. In his wake, Boulogne-Levallois is second in the standings (6 wins – 1 loss), behind Monaco (7 wins – 0 losses).
